After seven albums of original music; all with an impressive range of international jazz names such as: Seamus Blake, Melissa Aldana, John Escreet, Jonathan Kreisberg, Ari Hoenig, Lage Lund, Lionel Loueke & Gilad Hekselman - Morten Haxholm returns to his Danish roots with a Scandinavian indie jazz sound with the eight album: 'AETHER' - released June 30th 2023.

Personal, authentic and uniquely Danish compositions meets the modern contemporary sensibilities of New Yorks finest pedigree on this album - dedicated to Haxholms family and his native roots.

'Aether' is a deep exploration of the 'quiet' and 'spherical', but also challenging the concept: can a 'burning' tune be played with such a lightness, that it is perceived as a ballad - how much can you stretch the format dynamically and in terms of tonal density.

As a band 'Aether' is an eclectic mix of experienced and newer Danish and European jazz names, which together lift Haxholm's original compositions into a distinctively magical, alluring soundscape.

IVAN ROD, Gaffa 5 stars
There is at once something redeemingly beautiful and oppressively wistful about the album. Throughout, they are minimalistic, refined and beautiful. The music is rigorous, stylistically clear. It is spherical, minimalist and melodic.

JAZZSPECIAL
“A beautiful work. Saturated with atmosphere through all eight original compositions, where they
are played effortlessly, confidently and each with a contribution to the album's aesthetics.

“The music is rigorous, stylistically clear. It is spherical, minimalist and melodic. Listen to a dynamic/organic track like Vesper, and you will feel transported to a sacred universe at dusk.” Ivan Rod, Gaffa
