Jacob Anderskov's Resonance
Improvisation, new music, composition
Took part in Sounds of Denmark
The album mixes a post-jazz & improvisation background with notated music for 3 classically trained musicians.
The constantly explorative Anderskov creates a soundscape in which the texture and timbre of the strings become a fully integrated part of the music instead of the superimposed role often delegated to strings in jazz.
A wonderful trialogue between the strings, the imaginative piano playing and the colorful and richly nuanced percussion to create fascinating textural music.
The album led to Jacob Anderskov's nomination for the highly prestigious Nordic Council Music Price, as composer - an unusual feat for a non-classical composer.
