Unlock Music

Outdoor live music in some of the most treasured surroundings of Danish nature. Supported by Augustinus Foundation.

2020 - 2021

In three Danish cities during September, JazzDanmark presented a new concert format called Unlock Music, which was designed to meet the Covid-19 gathering ban.

The audiences meet up outdoors and are divided into 4 groups of 25-30 people. They are guided on a 2 km long walk including 4 stops with various live jazz concerts in nature. Each concert lasts 15 minutes and the groups each begin at a different stop on the route. After 15 minutes the groups change places, thus each group experience all 4 concerts, but in a different order.

Unlock Music was sold out in every city. The artists were Astrid Engberg, Mia Dyberg Trio, Mikkel Ploug, Aarhus Jazz Orchestra Quartet, and Elsinore also The Way Out. The project took place in Kolding, Svendborg, and Elsinore. The financial support came from the Augustinus Foundation, Tuborg sponsored beer for the audiences and the collaborators were Jazz I Trekanten, Jazz6000, KulturKolding, Svendborg Jazz Festival, Harders, Kulturværftet, and Aarhus Jazz Orchestra.
